ANGER ON MY MIND

My experience with anger in sports

Posted on: May 5, 2007

A topic I have been always drawn to is anger in children’s sporting events and athletics, whether it is between kids on teams, parents and kids, parents and coaches, and parents/coaches towards referees. I have been involved in sports from a very young age until current and have seen more than my fair share of fights and brawls from all ends leading to termination of games, hospitalizations, etc. In the end, these children are scarred for life, or they just lose interest or confidence in themselves and quit being involved which we all know can lead to more problems, internal and external down the road of life. Also, relationships between families, friends, and organizations are all affected causing increased stress levels all around for people. Children’s sport teams and athletics are intended to build all kinds of character, self esteem, responsibility, team work, fitness all based around ENJOYMENT, yet the question still arises daily of:

ANGER, what is the cost of it all?
