Anger Management Works

I was very pleased today. One of my clients came to meet with me and with joy in her eyes she simply told me–this stuff you are teaching works. She described a road rage situation in which she was able to sense that she was beginning to become angry. Instead of just responding in anger this client quickly put into practice what she was learning in anger management classes. In lightning speed she recognized the physical signs of stress and anger began self talk to identify the deeper emotions that drove the anger and she choose not to engage in road rage.  This displayed emotional intelligence at its best. It warmed my heart to see this result because this client chose to PRACTICE what she learned in class. Inappropriate expressions of anger are learned responses-therefore the good news is that they can be unlearned. So for those who struggle with anger there is hope.
