ANGER ON MY MIND

When anger management classes are not appropriate

Posted on: March 8, 2008

  • When there is a history or suspicion of mental illness
  • When there is a substance abuse history
  • When there is domestic violence
  • When anger is a new occurrence (true problems with anger tend to be long standing)

This is not an all encompassing list however the point here is that anger management is a class and there are clearly times when it is not appropriate. However please note that  it is appropriate to combine anger management classes with traditional mental health treatment–this may likely have a more positive impact on prognosis.
